STETHOSCOPE 14
(MY CLINICAL ROTATION DIARY)
It’s Monday…My OBGYN rotation begins today!
Last Friday while saying my goodbyes, Martha stopped to say hi to a Doctor. During the conversation, I got to know that the Doctor works in the O&G department, Martha introduced us. She explained to the Doctor that we’ll be coming to her department (I’ll be going first as she is yet to complete her rotation in the surgery department). She then asked her of what we, as students, should know in preparation for our rotation. The Doctor mentioned some areas of concentration which I took note of. When she was done talking with the Doctor, she playfully asked me to pay her for the information I got. I put my cupped fingers in her open palms. I’m glad we departed on a good note.
I found my way to the OBGYN department this morning; I asked for directions last Friday, and also asked for directions this morning. On my way I met the Doctor, Dr Bola, whom we met on Friday. It was some minutes past 7:00 am. I introduced myself and asked her for directions. She informed me that there will be a meeting in the department and showed me the venue.
Since I was pretty early, she suggested I hung around and wait till it was time. I thanked her and left.
I waited nearby till it was about 8:20am.
I had a bit of an interrogation when I entered the seminar room. Two Doctors were seated as the meeting was yet to begin. The male Doctor whom I had seen around during my rotation in the surgery department asked me questions.
He tried to “shake” me a bit, but I’m getting used to the system so I handled it pretty well. 😁
