MY CLINICAL ROTATION DIARY-8

Today…

Today began on a good note. I arrived at about 7:30am. I waited till 7:55am to put a call through to Dr Desmond, who’s become close to a chaperone in my eye.  He’s more experienced, young, and pretty easy to talk to, so I figured I could get my clarifications from him.

I joined him for his ward round since I was a bit early and the team wasn’t due to meet till a bit later. Moreover, I’m so eager to learn and get my hand on things; I mean that’s why I came! He willingly explained a number of things to me as he worked.

I couldn’t join the surgery they had today because I didn‘t have my scrubs.

————————–

I just found out that I’m supposed to report to the senior registrar every day, which I didn’t do today. Dr Desmond informed me. I didn’t know earlier…gush! I called his phone, but he didn’t answer his call, so I sent him a text message. I waited in the call room, hoping to see him (the registrar) after the surgery, and explain to him. I’m not sure of when the surgery will be over. I was told it’ll take a while. Well l’ll see how long I can wait.

I would have loved to join in the surgery today. I was with my scrubs yesterday, but there was no surgery. We went on ward rounds only, so I assumed we wouldn’t be using it. DrDesmond said there’ll be a surgery tomorrow. He advised I come with my scrubs every day, together with my change shoes. I definitely will. By the way, this is the general surgery department.

Well, I’m hoping for the best.

Transportation has been much better, at least I remember to always have change.

We were given assignments (topics to study) yesterday, so I’m working on that. I also discussed some with Dr Desmond.
