STETHOSCOPE CLINICAL ROTATION DIARY-6

Day 2

I cried yesterday…self-pity and all, but I also decided to face this squarely.

I didn’t come here to play. So I prayed for grace, help, favour, wisdom, and everything needed to overcome. I’m hoping for the best but prepared to face the worst.

It’s 08:10am…

The scripture reference that says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” is true (Psalm 37:23)

I went to the office I waited by yesterday, there were a lot of people there. The nice security guard who’s been of help to me asked if he could offer me a seat, but I thanked him with the reply that I wouldn’t be waiting at the office for long. As I left I wondered why I said that, because I had no other specific place in mind to go.

I randomly found a place and sat down. Guess who I saw? The Chief resident officer! He was on his way to his office. He asked if I had begun my rotation. I didn’t wait to be told to follow him before I stood up and followed him. I told him I hadn’t, and began to explain to him how I was at the place he referred me to, but was again referred somewhere else. When he stopped over to greet some people, I found out that he hadn’t been feeling well and was only getting better today. Oh, I guess that’s why he was a bit irritated yesterday, hence his reaction yesterday. Well, I’m really glad to know that he’s nicer than I initially thought. Ope o (grateful).

He asked me to follow him to his office so he could give the phone number of who I was to contact. I asked for his name and got to know that he is Dr Olyde.

He gave me the phone no of the person, the senior registrar, to call. He said I could get back to him to collect the phone number of someone else if couldn’t get through to the registrar. I thanked him and left.  Whew! That’s a better side to the person I met yesterday.
