MY CLINICAL ROTATION DIARY-5

Whew!

I entered another cab to continue my journey back home. I thought I had learnt my lesson, so this time I asked the man loading (call passengers in) the vehicle if he had change of 500# (the same 500#), he told me to enter the vehicle. Dear girl here assumed she had done what she was supposed to do.  Alas! It wasn’t enough. I got to the place I was to alight, and the driver said he didn’t have change “mogbe!” (I’m finished) What am I to do? I wondered. I tried explaining to the driver that I told the man “loading” that I had #500. Instead, MrDriver began another newbie lesson. He started (in a higher than talking voice) that I was supposed to ask him, the driver, and not the person loading. He kept saying “where is he now?” Referring to the loading man I informed. Oh my days! Boy I can’t explain.  I had to buy a snack (which I had no intention of buying) from a vendor, to get change.

I cried my eyes out even before I got home. I was just too overwhelmed with emotion; I had been psychologically traumatized (I sound like an ajebo, but I really was overwhelmed).  The heat of the sun, the embarrassing incidents, the whole outcome of the day, the walk from my bus stop home…it was my first day…gush, my whole body just ached!

Welcome to Nigeria…
