TOPIC: PLEASE, BE PATIENT

TEXT: “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:36).

“We don’t go far in our Christian experience before trials come and we find that we must sometimes wait upon God for His answers. Waiting certainly requires patience, and this is God’s way of developing that spiritual attribute,” says Darrel Lee. Patience has been described as the ability to accept or tolerate delay or setback without becoming annoyed or anxious. On the other hand, impatience makes one to become restless, annoyed, anxious and intolerant, leading to loss of fortunes or opportunities in life.

King Saul is a very good example of people who lost great opportunities and honour because of impatience. He had prepared all the necessary materials for the sacrifice unto God, but he could not exercise patience for the Priest, Samuel, to come to perform the rites. For his impatience, he missed God’s plan to establish his kingdom forever. Today’s text admonishes us to be patient in order not to miss God’s promised blessings. We learn too that though we pray in faith, we still need to be patient like Abraham, Zachariah and Job. God’s best comes at His own time.

CHALLENGE: Impatient heart, be still!

QUOTE: God’s best comes at His own best time.

PRAYER: Lord, deliever me from impatience in Jesus name.
