Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me – John 14:6
In the Greek language, “I am” is a very intense way of referring to oneself. It would be comparable to saying, “I myself, and only I, am.” Several other times in the Gospels we find Jesus using these words. In Matthew 22:32 Jesus quotes Exodus 3:6, where God uses the same intensive form to say, “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” This presupposes that, He is the only way to the Father.
A way is defined as a method, style, or manner of doing something. It is also referred to as a path. What Jesus is literally saying is that, He is the standard of truth to obtain life that leads to our Heavenly Father. There are other ways but it leads to dead – Proverbs 14:12. Truth in this context is a proven and guaranteed fact. Not all paths lead to the Father. Some paths will stripe you off everything God has given you to manifest His glory on earth. Others will eventually waste your time and kill you eventually but the path of Jesus adorns you with the glory from the Father with peaceful.
Beloved, when you read the account of the good Samaritan – Luke 10:25 – 37, the problem about the man travelling from Jerusalem to Jericho was the pathway he used. If he had used the right way he wouldn’t have falling in the hands of the robbers and manhandled by those who saw him by the road side. Life is a journey of purpose to glorify God. When you take, the path established by Jesus, you will serve your purpose in peace with a life fully fulfilled in Him. May the Spirit of God lead you on a path of truth, to serve your purpose on earth in Jesus name. Amen
Prayer
Heavenly Father, lead me on the path of truth so that I may be fruitful in my endeavours to glorify you. Order my steps Lord, that I may get a heart of wisdom. Let your will be done in my life in Jesus name. Amen.
