Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has signed the COVID-19 Regulations, 2020. This regulations seeks to declare COVID-19 a dangerous infectious disease.
The regulations, effective March 30, 2020, will give a legal backing to the numerous measures listed during the President’s National Broadcast on March 29, 2020, such as Restriction/Cessation of Movement in Lagos, FCT and Ogun states. This regulation is geared toward containing the spread of the COVID19 pandemic in the country.
He also said exemptions are given to financial systems and money markets to enable Nigerians perform online transactions as well as use ATMs whilst observing these directives of the regulation.
